Ben Williams was born in Manchester, he started his career with Manchester United in 2001 and played regulrly for the reserves. He had loan spells Altrincham and Chesterfield and had a spell on loan at Crewe but he never broke into the Man Utd first team and was released in July 2004 and quickly snapped up by Crewe. He has since become the regular No. 1 keeper at the club.
