Millers tempted by Pope

Crewe Alexandra striker Tom Pope is being linked with a summer transfer to Rotherham United. The 23-year-old has scored 16 goals in 64 appearances for the Railwaymen, but spent most of the second half of the 2008-09 campaign on the substitutes bench. Boss Gudjon Thordarson is believed to be keen to trim his squad down to 20 players as he prepares for life in League Two. He is willing to let Pope leave Gresty Road as he currently has a surfeit of strikers including Clayton Donaldson, Calvin Zola, Shaun Miller, Anthony Elding, Byron Moore, Joel Grant and Scott McManus.
