Crewe Alexandra have confirmed that loanee Jake Livermore faces three months on the sidelines after suffering a fractured fibula in the pre-season friendly against Wrexham.
The 18-year-old Tottenham midfielder, who agreed a six-month loan stay at Gresty Road earlier in July, will now return to White Hart Lane for treatment.
Meanwhile, first-team coach Steve Holland continues to be impressed by Eugen Bopp's renaissance.
The German midfielder appeared to be on the verge of leaving the club at the end of last term, but has been one of the star performers during pre-season.
Holland told the club's official website after the goalless draw with Wrexham: "Eugen was one of the plus points from the game. I was pleased with his performance.
"He was involved in a lot of the attacking play, had shots on goal and defended well too.
"He was certainly as dangerous as anyone on the pitch and he's worked very hard over the summer to give himself a real chance of regaining his place in the side, in the role we want him to play."
