Crewe Alexandra boss Gudjon Thordarson praised his side for their display in securing a second way win of the season with a 1-0 victory at Southend United.

A Billy Jones goal boosted the Railwaymen's survival hopes and gave Thordarson his first win on the road since taking charge of Alex.

He told the club's official website: "It was nice for us to win away from home and good for the players and the supporters to know that we can do it.

"I've been on to the players to have more faith in their ability and they have shown that.

"It was a really professional performance from the players and I thought we had enough chances to kill the game off as well.

"All we can do is keep working and if we do that, I think we'll be fine. I have faith in the players, but they need to have faith in themselves."
