Crewe Alexandra hope to sign at least one new striker and a left-back in this month's transfer window.
First-team coach Steve Holland has made a six-figure bid for an unnamed forward and has contacted a Premier League side about the possibility of bringing in a new left-back.
Holland told the club's official website: "I'm told that our bid for the striker has been presented to their board. I'm expecting a call at some stage today, to confirm if our offer was accepted or not."
On the offer for the left-back, he added: "It will be left up to the player and the decision will rest with him.
"He will be meeting with his manager shortly, where his options will be outlined for him, and one of those options will be the possibility of coming here on loan."
Meanwhile, Eugen Bopp has been made available for transfer after failing to become a first-team regular at Gresty Road since moving to the club last summer.
