Higdon wants fresh start

Crewe Alexandra manager Dario Gradi has confirmed that Michael Higdon has rejected the offer of a new contract with the club and looks certain to leave Gresty Road this summer. The 23-year-old striker has spent his entire career with Alex and made 87 first-team appearances for the club, but is keen to revive his career elsewhere. "Having spoken to Michael about a new contract it's become apparent that he wants a fresh start somewhere else and will move on in the summer," Gradi told the club's official website. "I think he believes it's the right time for him to move on. "I've said that we'd be happy for Michael to stay with us, because we believe in his ability and, maybe one day, the penny will drop for him and he'll become more consistent."
