Gudjon pleased with progress
05 Aug 2009 - 12:06:55
Crewe Alexandra boss Gudjon Thordarson is happy with his side's progress as they prepare for life in League Two.
After an emphatic 4-1 win over Premiership new boys Birmingham City in their final pre-season game, Thordarson is impressed with the promise his players are showing.
Speaking to the club's official website, he said: "It was a good outing for my players because Birmingham are a strong team with competitive players.
"The main thing was that we came through unscathed and managed to put on a good performance.
"The players took themselves forward in the right manner, especially in the second half when we got into their faces a bit more and improved the tempo of the game."
The goals on the evening came from Steven Schumacher, Joel Grant, Matt Mitchell-King and an own goal from Frank Queudrue.
Crewe open up their League Two campaign at home to Dagenham & Redbridge as they look to bounce back from their disappointing relegation at the first attempt.
