Gudjon focuses on positives

Gudjon Thordarson claims there was reason for optimism despite Crewe Alexandra losing 4-2 at Peterborough United on Tuesday.

Tom Pope scored twice for the Railwaymen, but the defeat left Thordarson's new side still adrift at the foot of the League One table.

"For the majority of the game we dealt with them fairly well and created some decent chances ourselves," he told the club's official website.

"We could have done better in two or three situations and we will have to improve that final cross or pass in the final third of the pitch.

"We scored an early goal and that was our aim to try and frustrate the Peterborough players and crowd.

"We did that but then we conceded two early goals at the beginning of the second half.

"We need to be defending better because we continue to give things away so cheaply."
