Gradi lays down gauntlet
Crewe manager Dario Gradi challenged his side to transfer their Carling Cup form into league points after watching his side defeat Derby 1-0 at Gresty Road.Alex, who began their League Two campaign with a home defeat to Hereford, reached round two of the Carling Cup courtesy of a Shaun Barker own goal just before half-time."We play good football all the time but what we need to do is turn it into winning football, particularly in the league," said Gradi. "Good football is second nature to my boys but I want to start talking about scoring from set plays and being more ruthless."We are not going to meet opposition that pass and pass like that every week in the league and we need to start dealing with the up and unders. We have got a long season to go so we can't get carried away."Gradi also praised the performance on on-loan Chelsea goalkeeper Rhys Taylor. He added: "Our goalkeeper didn't have anything spectacular to do but everything he did was class. It is a real help having a good goalkeeper."
