Gradi happy with cash boost

Crewe boss Dario Gradi has admitted the £2million the club will receive from Charlton Athletic for Luke Varney will help balance the books at Gresty Road.
The Railwaymen made a loss of £1.6million last year, but the sale of the 26-goal marksman and the impending departure of Billy Jones will provide the League One club with a much needed shot in the arm.
"Having the money there does take the pressure off a bit," Gradi told the club's official website.
"It means that along with whatever we get for Billy (Jones) we should end up breaking about even for last season, and not breaking into the cash reserves we have got which is enough to enable us to stay in business for about 18 months. It keeps us going.
"While there are small clubs like us struggling to avoid administration, we are fairly comfortable and that has come about by good management and forward planning.
"People often ask me that my objective is and I always tell them that the main objective at Crewe is to stay in full-time football.
"That is only achievable by producing our own good young players or finding others like Luke Varney."
