French ace wins Alex trial

Crewe Alexandra manager Dario Gradi has offered a trial to French defender Madji Baid as he looks to replace the injured Neil Cox.

Cox will be sidelined for at least a month and Gradi is looking forward to working with the 27-year-old free agent.

"Julien Baudet's agent recommended Baid and I basically told him to get him over so we can have a look at him," Gradi told Alex's official website.

"He's 27 and is experienced, so you never know he could be someone who could come over here and do a job for us.

"I'm told he's big, quick and can head it so we'll also look at what he can do when he arrives. Although it's unlikely he'd be involved on Saturday, you can never say never in this game."
