Dale held at Gresty Road
26 Dec 2009 - 17:30:48
Crewe and League Two leaders Rochdale played out an entertaining 2-2 draw at Gresty Road, while Bournemouth edged to a 1-0 victory at Cheltenham Town.
Ashley Westwood and Matt Tootle scored the goals for the Railwaymen, but Dale proved why they are top of the league by grabbing a point thanks to strikes from Craig Dawson and substitute Kallum Higginbotham.
A Liam Feeney goal secured a bit of Christmas cheer for the Cherries at Whaddon Road, with Bournemouth moving to within five points of Dale.
Dagenham & Redbridge lost out to a single goal in the 88th minute by Northampton Town substitute Billy McKay at Sixfields.
Aldershot enjoyed an emphatic 4-0 win over Barnet at the Recreation Ground. A John Grant brace and further goals from Andy Sandell and Scott Donnelly heaped the further misery on the Bees.
First-half goals from Cian Hughton and Delroy Facey secured a much needed win for Lincoln City at home to Chesterfield. Chris Sutton's side were able to hang on to a 2-1 victory despite a late consolation from Scott Boden.
Phil Edwards scored a brace to seal a 2-1 victory for Accrington Stanley away at Morecambe. Garry Hunter netted the consolation goal for the Shrimps.
A goal from David Hibbert six minutes into injury time secured a 2-2 draw for Shrewsbury at home to Macclesfield.
Goals from Nathaniel Brown and Colin Daniel for the Silkmen, either side of a Shrews goal from Waide Fairhurst in first-half injury-time had seen the away side lead before Hibbert's late goal.
Torquay United managed a 1-0 home win over Hereford United thanks to a penalty kick from Nicky Wroe - his sixth goal in his last eight appearances for the club.
