Better terms for Westwood

Crewe Alexandra teenager Ashley Westwood has penned a new contract that will keep him at Gresty Road until the end of the 2011-12 campaign.

The 19-year-old midfielder has broken into Alex's first team this season and has impressed veteran caretaker boss Gradi.

He said: "I've been delighted with Westy. I think he's played in every game since I took over again and he's come in and done very well.

"I've been pleased with him and he deserves his new contract. We're always fair with our young players.

"He's broken into the team and, when I looked at how much he was earning, I thought he deserved more so we offered better terms with a one-year extension."
