Bell set for Alex return

Crewe have been boosted by the news midfielder Lee Bell is closing in on a return to action from a long-term foot injury.

The 23-year-old has not featured for the League One side this term due to a broken foot which was followed by an ankle injury picked up in training recently.

However, Bell has now resumed training once again and the club have pencilled in Wednesday's reserve-team clash with Walsall for his return to playing.

Meanwhile, Alex's assistant boss Neil Baker confirmed Cardiff have expressed an interest in 19-year-old contract rebel Billy Jones, but no offer has been made.

He said: "We have had no enquiries apart from Cardiff and that's been ongoing. They've been watching him, but there's been no bid."
