Crewe Alexandra manager Gudjon Thordarson is still deciding whether to offer trialist Carl Martin a contract at the club.
Martin is expected to play in a wing-back role during Wednesday's reserve team game against Chester City before Thordarson makes his mind up on the 22-year-old.
The Wealdstone defender has impressed so far and has returned for a second spell at the club.
Speaking to Alex's official website, Thordarson said: "Carl's back here and we'll have a look at him in the wing-back role.
"He's done very well on trial and there comes a time when you have to make a decision.
"Do we take him and offer him a contract and keep him amongst us or do we let him go and if necessary return to the loan market?
"He's done well since he came here and we've been relatively pleased with what we've seen."
