Alex to launch Jones appeal

Crewe Alexandra are keen to launch an appeal after Billy Jones was controversially sent off in the defeat at Tranmere Rovers on Friday evening.

Jones will face a one-match ban if the red card is upheld after he was sent off in the closing stages of the 2-0 loss at Prenton Park after clashing with Bas Savage.

The loss, Alex's ninth in 13 games, leaves the club rooted to the foot of the League One table.

Meanwhile, James Bailey has been handed a new three-year deal after breaking into the first team this season.
