Alex tempt Boyle to stay

Crewe Alexandra's first-team coach Steve Holland is delighted to have persuaded Patrick Boyle to extend his loan spell at Gresty Road for another month.

The 21-year-old Everton defender has made 12 appearances since joining Alex in January and has been a solid replacement for the injured Billy Jones.

Holland told the club's official website: "We're delighted to have extended Patrick's loan deal until April 20.

"He'll miss the last two games of the season but, hopefully by then, we'll be safe and Billy Jones will be back to cover that position.

"Patrick was keen to stay here. He's enjoyed playing competitive matches and he's settled in well with the rest of the players.

"I think it's been a good experience for him and we've been very pleased with him."
