Crewe Alexandra have been given the green light to wrap up the signing of Calvin Zola from Tranmere Rovers. The 23-year-old DR Congo-born midfielder has been granted a work permit and can now put pen to paper on his move to the Railwaymen. Zola made more than 100 appearances for Tranmere during four seasons at Prenton Park. "Crewe Alexandra is delighted to confirm that the club has been successful in its application for a work permit for Calvin Zola," said a club spokesman. "The next step is for Calvin to sign his contract and begin training with us as soon as possible. "Having been our number one transfer target for a long time, we are pleased to have had such a positive outcome and we look forward to welcoming Calvin to the football club."
