Alex plan new signings
12 Jul 2007 - 13:56:30
Crewe Alexandra are on the look-out for a new striker and defender, according to first-team coach Steve Holland.
The Railwaymen are yet to replace striker Luke Varney following his £2.5million sale to Charlton, while the decision of Paul Bignot to leave has left the League One club considering their options in the transfer market.
"We could do with another defender now Paul had decided to move and we are constantly looking for that striker who could make a difference to us in the way Luke Varney and Dean Ashton have over the last few years," Holland told the club's official website.
"Replacing Varney's goals will not be easy, but we still have others who will get their chance to show what they can do."
Meanwhile, Crewe have handed a trial to defender Greg Stones from Welsh side TNS.
