Crewe Alexandra have responded to their injury problems by handing a trial to Wolves teenager Elliott Bennett.
The 18-year-old winger could move to Gresty Road on an emergency loan deal if he impresses during his spell with the League One club.
Dario Gradi told Alex's official website: "We asked Wolves about Lewis (Gobern) but he's taking longer than expected to recover from his injury.
"Wolves boss Mick (McCarthy) then recommended Elliott to us and told us that he's good enough.
"We've agreed to have a look at him and he'll train with us for a week with a view to signing him on loan.
"He's quick and has also played right-back. Mick tells us he's a good athlete and says he'll be doing us a favour because he's played with their first team this season and has a lot of potential.
"We'll see him this week and then decide yes or no."
