Alex fail in striker bid

Crewe have seen a loan approach for striker Phil Jevons rejected by Championship club Bristol City.
The 28-year-old forward has yet to start a game for the Robins this season despite ending the last campaign as their leading scorer.
But City boss Gary Johnson has turned down a request to take Jevons on loan as he sees the striker as an important part of his first-team plans.
"There has been contact with Crewe but I've told them I don't want anyone else going out on loan at the present time," said Johnson.
"It is difficult to chop and change things when the first team has not lost yet.
"Jevo understands the situation and he is waiting in the wings patiently, cleverly and professionally, and he will take his chance when it comes."
