Crewe Alexandra's busy summer of rebuilding following last term's flirtation with relegation to League Two has continued with the capture of former Southend United goalkeeper Steve Collis on a two-year contract.
The 27-year-old is the fourth new arrival at Gresty Road this summer following the signings of fellow goalkeeper Adam Legzdins from Birmingham, Aldershot Town's Joel Grant and Calvin Zola from Tranmere.
Collis is likely to be Alex's fist-choice shot-stopper this season after Ben Williams was sold to Carlisle United last month.
Former Nottingham Forest and Yeovil Town keeper Collis made 26 first-team starts in his two seasons at Roots Hall but spent most of his time with the club on the substitute's bench playing second fiddle to Darryl Flahavan.
