Zola move falls through

Shrewsbury have failed to agree personal terms with Calvin Zola having struck a deal with Crewe regarding an initial loan followed by a permanent deal in January, the Shropshire club have confirmed. The sought-after striker, who has fallen down the pecking order at Gresty Road, is being chased by a number of clubs including Shrews, Northampton, Burton, Bradford and Southend. Zola`s potential destination has taken several twists and turns over the past week as agreements look to be reached with both club and player regarding a series of factors, including a loan/permanent move, a transfer fee and a wage rise. But with Shrews having seemingly ticked all the boxes regarding Crewe`s demands, the Congolese forward has now put the brakes on a move to the Greenhous Meadow. A statement on Town`s official website on Thursday morning read: "Having reached agreement with Crewe over the possible signing of Calvin Zola, firstly on an emergency loan and then permanently from January when the transfer window opens, we have failed to reach agreement with the player."
