Substitute AJ Leitch-Smith earned the praise of Crewe manager Dario Gradi after his late strike earned Alex a 1-1 draw against Macclesfield. The 20-year-old crashed in from 12 yards with three minutes to go after Tyrone Barnett headed the visitors in front shortly after half-time. "As soon as AJ hit that I knew it was a goal because he has that ability to score," said Gradi. "You can't teach it. I wouldn't know what to do with a ball in front of goal, you've either got it or you haven't and AJ has certainly got it. He only needs one chance and he usually puts it away." Gradi added: "We played really well and some of our football was outstanding. We looked confident, fit and alert and the only thing missing was goals. "We let in another goal from a corner and we know that is a problem for us and we were lucky as our keeper had to make a great save to keep us in it."
