Weather hampers Crewe youngsters

The current freezing weather conditions are reducing the chances of Crewe`s young players going out on loan in the new year, according to Alex boss Dario Gradi. The likes of Antoni Sarcevic, Kelvin Mellor, Harry Davis and Jordan Connerton may have expected to go elsewhere to gain valuable experience. But the big freeze is decimating the fixture schedule, and Gradi insists he will need every member of his squad when the games start to pile up. "The longer this weather goes on the less likely it is. We will need them," said Gradi. "We have just let Lewis Short go back to Nantwich on loan but he is subject to a recall and I wouldn't be surprised if he found himself on our bench in the next few weeks."
