Crewe look set to give trials to Leicester City defender Tom Parkes and former Stoke City academy striker/winger Loick Pires. 19-year-old Parkes has been at the Walkers Stadium since the age of nine. The former England U-17 defender signed his first professional contract back in 2009 but has failed to break into the first team. Instead the 6ft 2'' Mansfield born defender has had loan spells at Yeovil Town and two spells at Burton Albion. Parkes is highly regarded as a long term prospect for the Foxes but may find it hard to break in to the Leicester City team especially after Sven Goran Eriksson has been bolstering his squad to force a promotion charge hoping for promotion to the Premiership. 21-year-old Pires started his career with Stoke City's academy but when released he joined Leyton Orient where he signed his first professional contract in 2008. He made 15 apperances for the O's during his two year spell at Brisbane Road. He was released back in May 2010. Pires then signed for Welling United where he made 27 appearances for the Wings netting 9 goals in the process where they finished 6th in the Conference South.
