Stockport 3-3 Crewe: Report

11 December 2010 23:16
Tansey ties thrilling draw Stockport and Crewe shared the points in an incident-packed 3-3 draw Edgeley Park. The visitors began brightly but went behind mid-way through the first half when Greg Tansey forced home from close range after some excellent work by Mansour Assoumani. The goal seemed to spark the home side into life, but leading scorer George Donnelly spurned two gilt-edged chances to extend the Hatters' lead. It was Crewe who scored the next two in a three minute spell either side of half-time as their leading scorer, Clayton Donaldson, produced a curling shot and a header for his 10th and 11th goals of the season. County were visibly deflated by this double blow, but to their credit were soon back in the game when David Poole scored from close range in the 54th minute. As the attacks flowed from end to end, Crewe went back in front 10 minutes later through a spectacular 35-yard free kick from Danny Shelley. But again Stockport did not lie down and die, and when Wes Fletcher was upended by David Artell in the area, Tansey made it 3-3 from the penalty spot to complete the scoring.
