Stanley denied in stalemate

Accrington Stanley winger Sean McConville was denied what looked a clear goal as they had to settle for a point after a goalless draw at Crewe. The visitors were stunned when McConville's 13th-minute turn and shot came down off the crossbar and looked to have crossed the line only for linesman Andrew Hutchinson's flag to stay put. Stanley left frustrated after creating the best of the chances over 90 minutes but it was Crewe who started brightest with Clayton Donaldson and Ashley Westwood both having good efforts saved by Alex Cisak before Luke Joyce headed wide at the other end. Terry Gornell then span into the Crewe box and saw his close-range effort saved by Rhys Taylor while Danny Shelley should have put the Alex ahead but Cisak came out on top in their one-on-one. Substitute Rory Boulding almost won it for Stanley when he swivelled in the box but his dragged shot went the wrong side of the post.
