Robins facing midfielder battle

The 23-year-old, who is without a club following his release by Swindon, spent a week on trial with the Railwaymen. He will join up with the Robins this week for a pre-arranged trial and could feature in Saturday's friendly at Weston-Super-Mare. However, any designs Martin Allen has on the player could be challenged by Crewe manager Gudjon Thordarson. "Michael will travel to Cheltenham to have a trial with them over the next two or three days," Thordarson told Crewe's official website. "I thought he did well for us in the friendly game and if he wants to come back here we are more than willing to assess the situation with him. "Just because he is going to Cheltenham for a few days doesn't mean our interest in him is over."
