Pole poised for Alex deal

Crewe are set to agree a short-term deal with Polish goalkeeper Bartek Fogler while manager Dario Gradi will make final decisions on the futures of his remaining trialists over the coming week. Fogler is seen as ideal back-up to on-loan goalkeeper Rhys Taylor as Alex enter the 2010/11 season with number one Steve Phillips still on the sidelines recovering from a double shoulder operation. Meanwhile, strikers Jimmy McCarthy and Lewis Short and midfielder Danny Maguire are hoping to follow in his footsteps and impress enough to earn contracts. Gradi could run the rule over them in Saturday`s home pre-season encounter against Wrexham but is more likely to send them out on Monday in the club`s final friendly versus Kidderminster.
