Phillips - I'd love to stay at Crewe.
On loan keeper Steve Phillips has stressed that he would love to stay at Crewe when his contract with parent club Bristol Rovers expires at the end of the season. 31-year-old Phillips has made 22 apperances in a Crewe shirt since signing on loan from League One club Bristol Rovers back in November 2009.Although Crewe wanted to do a deal back in January his Rovers would not pay off the Bath born keeper so Phillips extened his loan in January until the end of the season.Phillips told the Stoke Sentinal "I'd love to stay at Crewe."It's a great set-up here and I'm involved in the coaching down at the Soccer Centre. Let's see what happens in the summer first."Crewe need to see what the surgeon says."Phillips has put in some excellent performances for the Railwaymen since joining and shown the club what they have been missing with an experiance keeper. Off the pitch Phillips has moved his family up from Bristol and he has been helping out at the Alex Shavington Soccer Centre coaching the youngsters on a voluntary basis as the keeper looks to pick up his coaching badges.Crewe manager Dario Gradi told the Sentinal "Our plans are to keep Steve, although I think any surgery will mean his recovery will take a bit of time."He might be fit for the start of next season, but if not we will have to make sure the reserve-team keeper is good enough."
