Phillips back in action

Crewe keeper Steve Phillips looks physically better than ever before after making his comeback from injury in the reserves, according to assistant manager Steve Davis. Phillips underwent double shoulder surgery in the summer and played his first 90 minutes in six months against Barrow on Wednesday. The 32-year-old is ahead of schedule in his recovery and Davis was pleased with his performance. "Steve did okay. He didn`t have a chance with the goals he conceded, but other than that he didn`t have a lot to do in the game," Davis told the club`s official website. "Physically he looks better than he did, he looked good taking his crosses and if someone shot at him he caught it well. But he wasn`t tested too much. "I think he needs the games to get his confidence back to dive on his shoulders. Having operations like that will knock you a bit but he will come into it. I`m really pleased with him though, he came through unscathed and that was the key thing."
