O'Donnell in line for Alex return

O'Donnell suffered a hip injury on the opening day of the season against Dagenham but made a successful return to action in a practice match this week. The 23-year-old played 65 minutes at Reaseheath as Alex beat Oldham 3-1 thanks to goals from Anthony Elding, Clayton Donaldson and Shaun Miller. In O'Donnell's absence, manager Gudjon Thordarson recruited Harry Worley on loan from Leicester and had to promote Under-18 starlet Harry Davies to the bench. O'Donnell is expected to start amongst the substitutes following Crewe's back-to-back wins over Grimsby and Darlington, unless Thordarson elects to move Mat Mitchel-King back into midfield. Adam Legzdins and Steve Collis will battle it out for the goalkeeper's jersey after loanee stopper David Button was recalled by parent club Tottenham on Thursday afternoon.
