Crewe midfielder Ashley Westwood has signed a new and improved one-year contract extension to keep him with the club until the summer of 2013. The 20-year-old netted six goals in 38 appearances for the Railwaymen last term before capping an impressive season by claiming the supporters' player of the season award. Westwood, who has been at the club since the age of six, has also stated his desire to remain at the club for the rest of his career. He told the club's official website: "Dario (Gradi) told me that if I established myself in the team and became a first-team regular then he would look to up my contract again and he has stuck to his word and I'm delighted. "Dario wants me to stay and I am more than happy to stay here. I would love to stay here throughout my career. That wouldn't bother me because it is an honour to play for Crewe."
