New contracts put on hold.

Crewe boss Dario Gradi has spoken out about new contracts to players by saying nothing will be done until the summer. A few players will be sweating come May when the likes of Steven Schumacher and Daniel O'Donnell are out of contract along with Adam Legzdins, Chris Clements, AJ Leitch-Smith and Alex Titchiner. Former club captain Billy Jones has already decided that he will take up any offer from the club and looks to head south when his contract expires in the summer.O'Donnell joined the Alex from Liverpool for a fee of £100k back in 2007 while Schumacher joined the Alex for a nominal fee when he left Bradford City in the same year.Goalkeeper Adam Legzdins joined Crewe on a free transfer from Birmingham City in June 2008 but has only made only made 5 appearances in total and found it very hard to break into the first team.Clements, Leitich-Smith and Titchiner have all come through the academy and have had loan spells at various clubs. Clements and Leitch-Smith signed one year deals last season with the condition that they spent the summer in Iceland playing for IVB. Loan signings Steven Phillips and Chris Stokes will be looking to impress the management team as both are out of contract with their respective clubs (Bristol Rovers and Bolton Wanderers) while Harry Worley and Simon Walton are still under contract with Leicester City and Plymouth Argyle respectively but could look to have their contracts paid off with Worley contracted to the Foxes until 2011 and Walton contracted to the Pilgrims until 2012. Gradi told the official site 'I haven't discussed new contracts. That will wait until the end of the season because we will have to see how the rest of the season goes,' 'I am in no great rush to do anything although there are one or two in the team who are out of contract in the summer.'The budget will obviously be a factor because we are now a League Two club and we can't afford to have the budget we have had over the last few years.'
