More time for Alex trialists

Crewe trialists Jimmy McCarthy, Danny Maguire and Lewis Short could get more time to prove their worth. Striker McCarthy and midfielder Maguire, who has spent a year out of the game following knee surgery, played in the 4-0 pre-season defeat at Kidderminster this week and have been waiting to hear their fate with the new campaign set to kick-off on Saturday. Congleton Town youngster Lewis Short has missed recent warm-up matches because of injury. Manager Dario Gradi has already signed Danny Blanchett and Adam Dugdale from his pool of trialists this summer, while goalkeeper Bartek Fogler is finalising a short-term deal. "Both Jimmy and Danny are decent players so we will have another chat about them," Gradi told the club`s official website. "We will probably decide by the end of the week whether we are going to go any further with them, although we could still carry on with them here after the season starts and see how they do."
