Crewe boss Gudjon Thordarson is keen to appoint his own backroom staff following Alex's relegation to League Two. Former Port Vale manager Foyle still has a home in Staffordshire and has been linked with replacing current number two Neil Baker at Gresty Road. However, McGill told the York Evening Press: "I am unaware of Martin applying for the assistant manager's job at Crewe. "Having known him now for a little while, I would have said he is not the type to apply for a job without first informing me."
