Martin considered playing future

Crewe Alexandra full-back Carl Martin has admitted long-term injury problems left him pondering his own future.The 24-year-old, who joined from Wealdstone in October 2009, has made just six appearances in two seasons. [LNB]"There was a point where I questioned myself but it didn't take long to know that this is what I grew up trying to do," Martin told BBC Radio Stoke. [LNB]"Injuries have set me back but I am back and I have to try and repay the faith everyone has shown in me." [LNB]He added: "I have a massive 12 months in front of me and it really will determine my career."[LNB] [LNB][LNB] Martin was Dario Gradi's first signing when he returned as manager in 2009 and joined the Alex on a two-and-a-half year contract. [LNB]He originally had a trial at the club that summer, but then manager Gudjon Thordarson elected to let him go. [LNB]Martin then trained with Southend United and Dagenham & Redbridge and was close to signing for the Daggers until Gradi renewed Crewe's interest in the 24-year-old.
