Local lad Ajay Leitch-Smith is pushing for a start against Chesterfield this coming Saturday after netting three goals in two days. Leitch-Smith netted the equaliser in the 1-1 draw against Macclesfield Town on Tuesday night and then he netted a brace against Shrewsbury Town in a reserve match. The 20-year-old has found the net twice in his three substitute apperances for the Railwaymen and with the forwards misfiring in recent games has prompted some fans to see him start a full game.Crewe's assistant Steve Davis told The Sentinel "Ajay is definitely in contention for his first start of the season at Chesterfield."We're struggling to take chances, so we can't ignore that Ajay's staking his claim."
