Lawrence set for speedy return
The 6ft 7in Trinidad and Tobago international, who is on loan from Swansea, suffered the injury in the 2-0 win over Yeovil last month and was set for four weeks on the touchline.
But the 34-year-old, who has made 19 appearances for the Railwaymen, is prepared to accelerate his recovery by donning a mask.
"Dennis' cheek has settled down a bit now and it is positive news," manager Gudjon Thordarson told the club's official website.
"We're hoping he will train and play in a mask. He could then come into it for Colchester and that would be a massive boost for us."
