Keeper crisis looms for Alex

Crewe boss Dario Gradi is trying to avert a potential Carling Cup goalkeeping crisis. On-loan Chelsea youngster Rhys Taylor is on standby for the Wales Under-21 friendly international in Malta on August 10 - the same night Alex host Derby in a first-round tie. Taylor has assured Crewe he is unlikely to be called up but Gradi wants to ensure that trialist Bartek Fogler is available to play. Alex are still awaiting international clearance before they can finalise a short-term deal for the Polish keeper, who has impressed in two pre-season outings. "Although Rhys says he won't have to go, I have got to make sure we have Bartek ready just in case," said Gradi.
