Hereford 1-0 Crewe: Report

27 March 2011 21:54
Fleetwood boosts Bulls Stuart Fleetwood's goal midway through the first period gave Hereford a 1-0 win over Crewe and three vital points in their battle against relegation. The striker struck for the 16th time this season as Hereford, who won at Gresty Road on the opening day, completed an important double. Hereford keeper Adam Bartlett did well in the eighth minute with a fine double save which denied O'Neill Donaldson and Danny Shelley. But although Crewe had the better of the early exchanges, it was Hereford who took the lead. Kenny Lunt's through pass reached Fleetwood who took advantage of some hesitation in the Crewe defence to fire past Steve Phillips. Bartlett was in the action again just before the interval, diving to turn a Danny Shelley shot behind for a corner. And in injury time Crewe substitute Joel Grant had a shot pushed away by Bartlett.
