Three well-taken goals from Byron Moore, Tom Pope and Clayton Donaldson saw off the Terriers at Gresty Road, leaving Thordarson optimistic about his team's chances of escaping the drop.

But he is determined to keep his charges' feet on the ground.

He said: "There has been a massive improvement over the last few weeks but we still need to keep working hard and there is still room for even more improvement.

"The game was a credit to football and the league. Both teams tried to win it. Their manager is a true pro and he congratulated each of my players at the end of the game and it was nice to see him do that.

"The spirit among the boys is excellent and they have proved they are willing to work hard for each other. You could see how keen they were to get back once we conceded."
