Gradi wants youngsters to learn

Alex slumped to a fifth home defeat of the season against derby rivals Port Vale, with both the visitor's goals in their 2-1 triumph coming from set-pieces. Gradi said: "The two youngsters Danny Shelley and Ashley Westwood wilted in the second half and at points Westwood looked like he would cost us the game. Having said that, we believe in bringing youngsters through as it's harder to get older players to change their ways. "But what disappointed me was that both goals came from set pieces. We need to work on how we defend from corners and there are lots of little things to get right on the training ground." On the game itself, Gradi added: "I thought it was a decent game and we controlled the first half in my opinion. They started to cause us a few more problems in the second. "Losing Calvin Zola was a real blow and I have been thinking over the last couple of weeks that we have been too reliant on his strength."
