Gradi upbeat despite defeat

Crewe manager Dario Gradi refused to lay into his side after they lost 2-1 at Stevenage. A late Ajay Leitch-Smith goal proved to be only a consolation for the visitors, who were breached twice by U's striker James Constable. "We haven't played badly," Gradi insisted. "We made mistakes which led to their goals, and we're dependent a lot on whether Clayton Donaldson and Shaun Miller take their chances. "Shaun didn't particularly get chances today, but Clayton did and had he taken one of the three good chances he had, we would perhaps have won the game. "Clayton came down the goalline twice, once at each end, and I think he passed the ball to the goalkeeper. "The thing with us is that we can beat anybody and we can lose to anybody."
