Gradi unaware of Tootle interest

Crewe boss Dario Gradi is unaware of any interest from Derby in his young defender Matt Tootle. The Championship club spent around £1million taking Alex duo John Brayford and James Bailey to Pride Park last summer, and now reports are suggesting Rams boss Nigel Clough is interested in attacking full-back Tootle. "A lot of our players get mentioned with Derby," said Gradi. "I sold two players to them but I've not spoken to Nigel Clough about anyone else. I've not seen the speculation either." Academy product Tootle switched to a right-sided role in the Alex side when Brayford left. The 20-year-old has already clocked-up 50 appearances for Crewe despite only making his debut in November 2009. His progress was rewarded recently with a contract extension until 2014.
