Gradi to assess trialists

Crewe boss Dario Gradi will give a number of trialists a further chance to impress in Tuesday's friendly against West Brom. Danny Blanchett, Chris Stokes, Adam Dugdale, Lewis Short and Jimmy McCarthy all featured in the 8-1 friendly victory over Lancaster on Friday night. Clayton Donaldson netted a brace, while Matt Tootle, Shaun Miller, Danny Shelley, Dugdale, Short and McCarthy also got on the scoresheet. But Gradi wants more time to assess whether or not the trialists who were in action on Friday are worthy of a contract at Gresty Road. He told The Sentinel: "We'll have a look at them all again on Tuesday when I will make a decision with some of them. "With West Brom sending a young team it will give us a chance to give all the boys another go. I might also be able to play some of them for a bit longer."
