Gradi ponders Westwood dilemma

Crewe boss Dario Gradi has not ruled out signing former Sheffield Wednesday defender Ashley Westwood. Westwood, 34, who had a previous spell with the Alex between 1995 and 1998 when he made 125 appearances, is currently training with the club. Gradi told the club's official website: "Alex is doing fine and is still with us. He's fit and has been sharp in training. "I'm not totally ruling out signing him. We need to be sure because we cannot have an extra central defender in the dressing room just for the sake of it. "He would have to get ahead of one of ours and that would mean Patrick (Ada) because I can't see him being better in the air than Dave (Artell)." Westwood, whose other former sides include Bradford, Sheffield Wednesday, Northampton and Wrexham, is a free agent after leaving Kettering.
