Gradi has left-back options

Crewe boss Dario Gradi is not worried about the prospect of not having a recognised left-back in his squad. On-trial defender Chris Stokes could provide a possible replacement for former club captain Billy Jones, who recently rejoined Exeter, while Matt Tootle is another contender for playing in that role. But Gradi could still enter the market for a new left-back and told the club's official website: "I'm not worried about the left-back situation because Matt (Tootle) can play there if needs be and so could a fit Carl Martin. We also have Danny Shelley who has played right-back in the past too. "Neil Baker is returning from his holiday and he will have some more names for us to have a look at. We do have a number of targets we are considering. "Chris Stokes is one of those and he is working hard here on a trial basis. He wants to stay here and win himself a contract and it will be interesting to see how he does once the football starts again. "We'll have to wait and see on that one and it may be the case that this opportunity will be the making of him and we can get the best out of him."
