Gradi down despite win

Dario Gradi was far from happy despite seeing Crewe pick up their third away win of the season at struggling Morecambe. The veteran boss blasted his side's second-half performance after the hosts came close to pulling back a two-goal deficit. "It may sound ironic but that was one of the most inept performances of the season for us in terms of keeping the ball this season," said Gradi. "We never have a problem scoring goals and we scored twice in the first half but we never matched that in the second period. "I have sometimes been surprised how well we have continued to play football through midfield this season because we are a young side with not a lot of experience. But each game brings its different challenges and I don't think we coped totally with those challenges here. "Morecambe played some really good football but they never really had the pace to hurt us and rarely threatened the goal, though our keeper did make some good saves from long-range efforts."
